Philemon
Paul
a prisoner of Christ Jesus and Timothy the brother to Philemon the
beloved and our fellow worker 2 and to Apphia the sister and to
Archippus our fellow soldier and to the church at your house: 3 Grace
to you and peace from God our Father and our
Lord Jesus Christ.
I always give thanks to my God when I make
mention of you at my prayers, 5 hearing of your love to all the
saints and the faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus, 6 so that
the fellowship of your faith may become operative for Christ in a
full knowledge of every good thing in us. 7 For I had much joy and
consolation over your love, because the bowels of the saints have
been refreshed through you, brother. 8 Wherefore, having much
boldness in Christ to charge you to do the fitting thing, rather I
beseech because of love; as Paul who is such an old man, and now also
a prisoner of Christ Jesus, 10 I beseech you concerning my
child, whom I begat in my bonds, Onesimus, 11 the one formerly
useless to you, but now useful to both you and to me, 12 him, whom I
sent back to you, this is my bowels; 13 whom I resolved with myself
to retain, in order that on your behalf he might minister to me in
the bonds of the gospel, 14 but I was willing to do nothing without
your opinion, that your good might not
be by
way of necessity but by way of being voluntary. 15 For perhaps
therefore he departed for an hour, in order that you might receive
him eternally, 16 no longer as a slave but beyond a slave, a beloved
brother, specially to me, and by how much more to you both in the
flesh and in the Lord. 17 If therefore you have me as a partner,
receive him as me. 18 And if he wronged you any way or owes you
anything, reckon this to me: 19 I Paul wrote with my hand, I will
repay; lest I say to you besides that indeed you owe yourself to me.
20 Yes, brother, may I have your help in the Lord; refresh my bowels
in Christ.
21 Having trusted to your obedience I wrote to you,
knowing that indeed you will do beyond what things I say. 22 And at
the same time also prepare lodging for me; for I hope that through
your prayers I shall be given to you.
23 Epaphras my fellow
captive in Christ Jesus greets you, 24 also my fellow workers Mark,
Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke.
25 The grace of the Lord Jesus
Christ be with your spirit.
